PINHOLE SURGICAL TECHNIQUE
Pinhole Gum Rejuvenation
Gum recession is what happens when gum tissue lowers its position on the tooth, exposing the tooth root. If left untreated, the gum around the tooth can result in sensitivity, unpleasant appearance, and the likelihood of developing root decay.
The Pinhole Surgical Technique is a minimally invasive option to treat gum recession. Unlike traditional grafting procedures, this revolutionary technique is scalpel and suture free with faster healing.
How does the Pinhole Surgical Technique differ from traditional gum grafting?
Traditional gum grafting procedure involves the use of donor tissue (usually from the palate) in order to rebuild the gum line. The soft tissue would be sutured in place and left to heal.
The Pinhole Surgical Technique requires a small needle hole in the gum tissue. Very thin instruments are introduced through this hole to gently loosen the gum tissue to slide and cover the exposed root. Small strips of collagen are inserted under the gum to hold them in their new desired position. The Pinhole Surgical Technique shows comparable results often with better patient experience than the traditional grafting treatment.
